VIKKY MULLIN
Founder / Director
Vikky Mullin is the founder of ACT and the director. Vikky has lived on the Central Coast for 34 years. She graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1985 with a teaching credential. Before attending Cal Poly she attended Ohlone College in Fremont, CA receiving a degree in Interpreting for the Deaf. She taught elementary school for many years before deciding to put working full time on hold to raise her 4 children. While at home Vikky worked 100’s of hours in her children’s schools volunteering in any capacity needed.
In 2002 she started an after school Sign Language drama program at Georgia Brown Elementary school in Paso Robles. Two years later Vikky started The Singing Hands Children’s Choir. Singing Hands is a performing arts group that puts on shows in ASL and travels across the state performing of deaf events, civic events, sporting events, and TV shows. After her children were older she returned to teaching. She taught American Sign Language at the high school level in King City. While there Vikky began directing children’s theater for a non-profit group. After directing there for 2 years her desire grew to serve the children of her own community. So, she began the process of starting ACT and thanks to the support of many wonderful friends APPLAUSE CHILDREN’S THEATER was born. She is thrilled that her dream has come true and looks forward to working with the children on the Central Coast and bringing Broadway musicals to her community.
